Businessmen, taxpayers, motorists and the general public will soon heave a sigh of relief in paying their taxes, water bill and even traffic citation as the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the City Government of Cagayan de Oro formally launched Cagayan de Oro City’s Online Business Permit Registration and Mobile Money Ecosytem.

City Mayor Oscar S. Moreno and Ms. Gloria Steele, the Mission Director of USAID Philippines and the Asia Pacific, led yesterday’s formal launching ceremony at the Limketkai Luxe Hotel, this city.

Other guests were: Remo Garovillo, director of Merchant Acquisition Globe- Xchange Inc.; Ruben Vegafria, chairman of the board of Cagayan de Oro Water District; COWD general manager Rachel Beja; Edgardo Micayabas, chief executive officer of micro-financing institution First Community Cooperative (FICCO); Jaime Rafael U. Paguio, senior vice president of Cagayan de Oro Electric Power and Light Company (CEPALCO) and president of Promote CDO Foundation; and USAID's chief of party Mamerto Tangonan.

With the use of Globe’s Gcash, city residents can now use their mobile phones to pay or inquire their real property taxes, business permits, traffic citation and building permits through the mobile money system by dialing *137# to Globe network and simply follow the instructions.

This innovation as a faster, easier and convenient mode of mobile payment will soon be an acceptable payment method for COWD’s water bills, and can soon be used by Ficco’s loan disbursements and collections.

Businessmen and taxpayers can also access Cagayan de Oro City’s official website: for online business permit registration.
