WITH the recent turned-over of the newly constructed 14 classrooms, 2 storey building of Fr. William Masterson Elementary School, children will now grow normally as emergency classes is already a thing of the past.
This and the love and bias of Mayor Oscar Moreno in education drive his administration to construct classrooms to address shortage that has been long neglected in the past years.
Mayor Moreno led the turn-over ceremony together with officials of the Department of Education (DepEd), members of the Local School Board (LSB), representative from the Office of Rep Rolando Uy of the first legislative district of Cagayan de Oro, department heads of City Hall, parents and school children.
The construction was funded under the Special Education Fund (SEF) from the Real Property Tax paid by the people and approved by the Local School Board.
Sol P. Aceron, school principal, also expressed her gratitude as the school with over 1,300 pupils no longer experienced emergency classes.
In his message, Mayor Moreno encouraged parents and teachers to take care of the new classrooms which serve as instrument in developing the capabilities and intelligence of the school children.
“This will also serve as an immortal reminder to them to be inspired always in their studies,” Moreno added.
He said Fr. William Masterson SJ Elementary School in Upper Balulang is also situated in a very strategic location which is now developed into a new economic growth area in the city.
Fr. William Masterson, formerly known as KM 5 Elementary School, is also the pilot school for the Center of Excellence (Centex) program of the Ayala Foundation and local government of Cagayan de Oro. (CIO)
