‘Panahud’: A Higaonon ritual for environmental protection and Cagayanons’ good health

Higaonon tribal leaders successfully held its annual rites ‘Panahud o Panumaned’ at the Duaw Kagay-an Park on March 10, 2016.

The ritual aims to ask help and guidance from ‘Mambabaya’ (Bathala) for the protection of Mother Earth and good health of the people of Cagayan de Oro.

It was led by the ‘Baylans’ (spiritual leaders) and 16 Indigenous People Mandatory Representatives from the city’s 16 barangays where 20,000 Higaonons dwell.
