1,500 AVAIL BuB PROJECT SKILLS TRAINING FOR WOMEN’S GROUPS

Nearly 1,500 members from the different women’s groups in Cagayan de Oro successfully completed their seminar and livelihood skills training under the Bottom Up Budgeting-BuB Project: Enhanced Food Processing and Mass Production of Occupational Safety Kits for Business.

Mayor Oscar Moreno personally congratulated the graduates during the ‘Market Day’ and graduation program held on December 11, 2017 at 3rd floor City Hall bridge.

City councilors George Goking and Ma. Lourdes Gaane, DOLE 10 provincial head Ebba Borbon-Acosta, together with BuB focal person Elmer Wabe and Community Improvement Division head Marisa Tagarda likewise graced the event.

Of the total number of graduates, 1,136 of whom completed the seminar on food safety, food packaging and labeling, basic costing and pricing, basic marketing and sales, simplified bookkeeping, entrepreneurial development and leadership, and values.

While 225 have undergone skills training on food processing such as bottling, frozen seafood, meat processing, jams and preserves, chips and pie making and 131 took dress making and tailoring, and production of occupational safety kits.

BuB Project: Enhanced Food Processing and Mass Production of Occupational Safety Kits for Business is a joint endeavor between the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE 10) and the administration of Mayor Moreno aimed at empowering the women’s sector by providing them with livelihood skills trainings and capability enhancement seminars which could be useful in starting up a business of their own.
