CITY PROPOSED P11M FOR CHILD DEVT PROGRAM

The City Government proposed P11 million pesos for the Child Development Program and other related activities next year.

City Social Welfare and Development Officer Teddy Sabuga-a said the proposed funding is intended for the children’s welfare, Convention of City Child Development Teachers, National Children’s Month, Family Week celebration and many others.
Budget for the said activities this year was zeroed by the majority of the City Council.
Teachers from Day Care Centers and parents are hoping that the proposed budget for 2016 will be approved for the betterment of pre-schoolers from 196 CDCs.

Meanwhile, the 3-day 1st Parents-Child Development Teachers celebration concluded today with the giving of Certificates of Achievement Award & Plaques of Recognition for Child Development Teachers retirees, awarding for the Most Improved Child Development Center, Most United District, volleyball game, cultural and modern dance contest and many others.

The event’s theme is “There is Strength in Unity…Ensure the future of our Children”.

The SM and Banco de Oro (BDO) Foundation with the city government and Gawad Kalinga turned over 300 units of row houses located at Zone 7, Brgy. Canitoan this city on Friday Oct. 30, 2015.

City Mayor Oscar Moreno expressed gratitude to the SM and BDO Foundations and Gawad Kalinga for the housing project which would benefit Sendong victims.

FOR THE SECOND time around, the City Inter Agency Committee chaired by Rev. Fr. Saturnino Lumba, SSJV and the City Government under the administration of Mayor Oscar Moreno, had launched the Search for the Urban Container Household Gardening Phase II at Barangay 15 this city.

The participants are the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiaries from Barangays 1 to 40. Each individual is challenged to plant any variety of vegetables in their backyard using recycled materials.

The awarding ceremony is set on December this year, wherein the 1st prize winner will get P10 thousand pesos; 2nd prize, P8 thousand pesos; and 3rd prize, P6 thousand pesos, plus consolation prizes will be given to the participants.

Mayor Oscar Moreno together with CSWD Officer Teddy Sabuga-a, emphasized that the program is aimed at addressing poverty through food accessibility right on their own homes, aside from combating malnutrition.

Partner agencies are: Archdiocese of Cagayan de Oro, DepEd, TESDA, DILG, City Health Office, City Health Insurance Office, Balay Mindanaw, Group of Foundation, World Vision, Ayala Foundation, Oro Youth, Agricultural Productivity Office and CLENRO.

The program centers on the theme: “Gulay ay Paramihin upang ang benepisyo ay bumalik sa atin”.

GEARING up for the implementation of the JobStart Program phase-in roll out this year, the Jobs Placement Bureau-PESO 10 and DOLE-10 conducted the 2nd JobStart Employers Forum yesterday, October 20, 2015 at Limketkai Luxe Hotel.

City Mayor Oscar Moreno tasked the Cagayan de Oro City Technical Skills and Dev’t and Employment Committee (CDOC-TESDEC) to monitor and coordinate with the local industries in the implementation of the JobStart program.

Created under Executive Order 047-14, CDOC-TESDEC provides checking, managing and harmonizing all kinds and types of technical education and skills training to be carried-out in the City.

In line with this, Mayor Moreno emphasized on optimizing the technical skills attained by the out-of-school-youth graduates under the CID-TESDA livelihood skills training program to provide inclusive growth towards employability and competitiveness.
