Outreach Program in Besigan

Residents of Besigan, Cagayan de Oro City's farthest barangay, avail of various services such as free medical consultation and check-up with medicines, dental, circumcision, haircut, birth registration, feeding, real property assessment, business, building and electrical permits processing, distribution of seedlings and vegetable seeds, animal vaccination, sports clinic, road repairs and maintenance, and many others as the City Government held its outreach program on May 30, 2014.

City Mayor Oscar Moreno says the outreach program aims to bring the city's basic services to far-flung barangays so as to let the residents feel the administration's genuine commitment to public service.

Embracing the principle ..'bringing the government closer to the people', Mayor Moreno vows to make the program a regular fixture in the delivery of basic services, saying that the city will always look for ways to address their concerns.

At the same time, some 683 families in Besigan also got their respective Philhealth cards as Mayor Moreno ceremonially turned over the insurance cards to barangay kagawad Jeson Magay,while officers of youth and women's groups also sworn into office before the Mayor. 

First District Congressman Rolando 'Klarex' Uy, city councilors Candy Darimbang, Bong Lao, Roger Abaday, department heads and City Hall employees, military and police personnel participated in the outreach program.

CDO Boxing Team is PNG Overall Champion

City Mayor Oscar Moreno congratulated the Cagayan de Oro City Amateur Boxing Team under Head Coach Elmer Pamisa after bagging the overall championship of the recently-concluded Philippine National Games (PNG) held in Manila, bringing home 5 gold medals, 9 silver medals and 3 bronze medals.

The gold medalists are Mark Lumbab, Falcon Cris Ocaña, Fresco Carcosia, Judely Casin and Shera Mae Jacinto. While silver medalists are Carlo Paalam, Junil Pamisa, Elaide Pamisa, Angelica Dadole, Dannel Maamo, Beverly Casero, Jeanvee Flores, Margie Waga and Kimberly Labajo. Boxers who captured bronze medals are Jason Daming, Sugar Ray Ocaña ug Marvin Esquierdo.

'Hapsay Sapa' Operation

To ensure declogging of the city’s drainage system and creeks before the onset of the rainy season, City Mayor Oscar Moreno created the “Hapsay Sapa’ team for the purpose.

The team started on June 3 its late evening until early morning clean-up operation at Bitan-ag Creek along Gaabucayan Street. The team is composed of the Department of Public Works and Highways (2nd District Office), City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, City Engineering Office, Roads and Traffic Administration and City Social Welfare and Development Office.

Nene Lauds Moreno's Sterling Performance

Former Cagayan de Oro City Mayor and Senate President Aquilino “Nene” Pimentel said he is impressed with the way City Mayor Oscar Moreno handles the realm of governance at City Hall.

In his rare appearance before City Hall officials and employees recently, Pimentel admired Mayor Moreno’s genuine commitment and dedication to deliver public service the best way possible, especially along education and health services.

Mayor Moreno, for his part, said the former Senate President’s words of encouragement and praise gave him more courage and strong will to live up to the latter’s expectations.

Cagayan de Oro Citizen’s Charter

After seven years, the City Government of Cagayan de Oro finally crafted its Citizen’s Charter in compliance to Republic Act No. 9485 or Anti-Red Tape Act, a law which is aimed at curbing graft and corruption in government.

City Mayor Oscar Moreno recently handed over copies of the Citizen’s Charter handbook to DILG regional director Rene Burdeos, Civil Service Commission regional director Adams Torres and City DILG director Jane Docallos during simple ceremonies at City Hall.

City Hall officials and employees took service pledge and signed a commitment as a show of support to the implementation of the charter that features ‘simplified procedures’ in the delivery of frontline services offered by various departments and offices of the local government. 

Public Assistance and Feedback Desks are now strategically placed within City Hall premises, particularly at the lobbies of the Chief Executive House, JV Serina Building and New Legislative and Administrative Building, in order to assist the transacting public.
