TO improve and broaden the youth empowerment initiatives, the local government of Cagayan de Oro under the administration of City Mayor Oscar Moreno, a public hearing on the Oro Youth Code of 2017 was conducted today, October 6, 2017 at the Cagayan de Oro National High School. The city council is about to approve the Oro Youth Code so as to make the youth sector to become engaging and well represented from the different sectors such as in-school, out-of-school youth, faith-based youth, special advocacy youth sector, cultural identity-based youth and Sangguaniang Kabataan. Oro Youth Development Council Chairman Atty. Ernesto Neri, City Councilors Jay Roa Pascual, Reuben ‘Boboy’ Daba, Suzette Magtajas-Daba and Annie Daba attended the event. The OYDC is looking forward for the passage of the Oro Youth Code the soonest possible time.

Children-clients from five City Government-run centers showcase their talents in arts during a poster making contest held at the City Hall mini park, Tuesday, October 10, 2017, spearheaded by the Psychosocial Division Head Jaymee Leonen of the City Social Welfare and Development Office. The artworks now on public display were made by clients from Boystown, Bahay Pag-asa, Mother Teresa Oro Care Center, Home Care for Girls and Residential Care for Elderly. CSWD Officer Teddy Sabuga-a said the artworks touches the viewer's heart as it reflect the children's emotions after being reached out from the streets. Once again, the Oro Youth Development Council and the City Government of Cagayan de Oro under the administration of Mayor Oscar Moreno has launched this year's Search of Child-Friendly Police Station during flagraising ceremony today, October 9, 2017. City Administrator Dionnie Gersana thanked its partners that include Commission on Human Rights, Cagayan de Oro Police Office, DILG, Gugma sa Kabataan, Balay Mindanaw, Balaod Mindanaw, City Prosecutor's Office, Kuya Fish Campaign and Development Bank of the Phils for supporting this endeavor. This year's 1st prize is worth P100,000.00; 2nd prize, P70,000.00 and 3rd prize, P50,000.00. Thorough evaluation of the 10 participating police stations is set from October 23-27 this year while the awarding ceremony will be on November 29, 2017.
