Despite inaction of the City Council in approving the long-submitted documents for the declaration of the calamity to the affected barangays, still the administration of Mayor Oscar Moreno has able to deliver immediate assistance to the farmers affected such as rice, irrigation pumps and the establishments of fire line in different barangays.
Thirty three (33) irrigation pumps were distributed to Brgys Balubal, FS Catanico, Tablon, Canitoan, Iponan, Pagatpat, San Simon, Lumbia, Pagalungan, Bayanga, Dansolihon, Tignapoloan, Tuburan and Mambuaya.
Sabuga-a said if a ‘State of Calamity’ will be declared, the city can avail of the 30% of the 5% calamity fund under emergency response to be used as relief operation, for irrigation system, water impounding, cash for work, animal dispersal, seedlings distribution, preserving the forest and water reservoir.
