Cagayan de Oro City will host the 9th National ICT Confederation of the Philippines ICT Summit on November 16 and 17 this year, anticipating presence of delegates and dignitaries of different ICT councils across the country, government officials and industry stakeholders to converge here in the city.

The NICP Summit is an annual event that highlights information and communications technology for its innovation that can be advantageous for both public and private sectors.

This year’s summit will center on two important events: the digitalcitiesPH national launching on the first day, and the eGOV Awards for Excellence through ICT for LGUs on the next day.

The former will introduce ICT’s role for the development of cities, while the latter will recognize online services utilized by local government units for the convenience of the transacting public.

As host city, Cagayan de Oro has submitted four entries for the eGOV Awards. These include the city’s Online Tax Billing and Payment System, Electronic Building Permit Management System (eBPMS), Taxpayers Friendly Kiosks and Senior Citizens Online ID Application.

The first day will take place in Limketkai Luxe Hotel, with a welcome dinner sponsored by the City Government in the evening. The ceremony for the eGOV Awards will be held at the Rosario Pavilion in the morning of the second day.

The summit is a collaborative effort of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and NICP, in partnership with the City Government, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Interior and Local Government, Cagayan de Oro Chamber of Commerce and Industry Foundation, Inc., and the CDO ICT Business Council. TO improve and broaden the youth empowerment initiatives, the local government of Cagayan de Oro under the administration of City Mayor Oscar Moreno, a public hearing on the Oro Youth Code of 2017 was conducted today, October 6, 2017 at the Cagayan de Oro National High School. The city council is about to approve the Oro Youth Code so as to make the youth sector to become engaging and well represented from the different sectors such as in-school, out-of-school youth, faith-based youth, special advocacy youth sector, cultural identity-based youth and Sangguaniang Kabataan. Oro Youth Development Council Chairman Atty. Ernesto Neri, City Councilors Jay Roa Pascual, Reuben ‘Boboy’ Daba, Suzette Magtajas-Daba and Annie Daba attended the event. The OYDC is looking forward for the passage of the Oro Youth Code the soonest possible time.
