Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Mayor Rolando 'Klarex' Uy ordered the City Health Office (CHO) and personnel of the city owned J.R. Borja General Hospital (JRBGH) to intensify their early prevention campaign on leptospirosis in light of the rainy season.
In a statement, JRBGH urged the public to avoid wading through floodwaters in order to prevent infection.
They also called on city residents to seek immediate medical treatment if they experience lingering ill effects, saying that early detection and intervention with antibiotics can save lives.
Residents are strongly encouraged to practice preventive measures such as wearing protective footwear, disinfecting flooded areas, and managing waste to control the rat population. (MDS/CIO/Infographics Courtesy of JRBGH)
