Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Rolando ‘Klarex’ Uy assured his administration’s support to the Cagayan de Oro City Justice Zone during a courtesy visit by the program’s proponents to his office Thursday (July 31).

The Cagayan de Oro City Justice Zone is handled by a committee headed by Executive Judge Hon. Arthur L. Abundiente and is tasked with addressing violations related to Human Trafficking, Online Sexual Abuse or Exploitation on Children (OSAEC) and other related crimes.

Among the offices involved in the justice zone are the regional National Bureau of Investigation (NBI-10), Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD-10), Public Attorney’s Office-10, CDO Judiciary and Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP); City Hall offices:

City Social Welfare and Development Department (CSWD), Office of the City Administrator, City Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG); non-government organizations: Balaod Mindanaw and Philippine Island Kids International Foundation, Inc.

Cagayan de Oro City was declared the 14th Tri-City Justice Zone against OSAEC in the region last Sept. 3, 2024, at the Cove Garden Resort in Cugman in recognition of its best practices in combating OSAEC.

Mayor Klarex also committed City Hall’s continued support for future activities and initiatives of the Justice Zone, aimed at strengthening local efforts against human trafficking and OSAEC.

Joining him in declaring the city’s full support were Vice Mayor Bebot Rodriguez and City Administrator Roy Hilario Raagas. (NLB/CIO/photos by Jomar Figuracion/CIO).
