WITH the theme ‘Every Smile Has a Story. Every Journey Matters’, the City Health Office (CHO), joins the observance of National Cleft and Craniofacial Awareness and Prevention Month this July.

 

In partnership with the Department of Health (DOH) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the event promotes awareness, encourage early intervention, improve access to life-changing treatments, and strengthen community support for persons with cleft and craniofacial conditions.

 

In line with this observance, Cagayan de Oro City Hall under Mayor Rolando ‘Klarex’ Uy’s leadership continues to promote kindness, acceptance, and inclusivity while discouraging discrimination and stigma against individuals with cleft lip and/or palate.

 

The CHO also encourages families, communities, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders to work together in creating a supportive environment centered on empathy, respect, and holistic care for individuals with cleft lip and/or palate.

 

The public is reminded to normalize differences, prevent bullying and discrimination, practice empathy and active listening, and extend support to individuals with cleft lip and/or palate. (MDS/CIO/Infographic by: Alrey Escueta/CIO)
