CEDAC-BEC COMMITTEE TACKLES KEY AGENDA

THE City and Development Advisory Council (CEDAC) Basic Education (K-12) Development Committee (BEC) convened for its regular meeting on Thursday, July 9, at the Department of Education- Division of Cagayan de Oro Conference room, this city.
 
During the meeting, the council deliberated key resolutions, draft ordinances, and digital applications designed to enhance safety, inclusion, and student welfare in the city's education sector.
 
Among the resolutions, draft ordinances and applications discussed were:
 
Policy & Welfare Resolutions
 
* Resolution No. 15784-2026: A resolution urging cooperation between government agencies, industries and the academe to launch proactive programs against school-based violence, including emergency drills for handling bomb threats.
 
* BEC Resolution No. 10, s. 2026: A resolution strengthening road safety education in local schools by mandating regular awareness activities and weekly viewing of instructional videos for students.
 
* BEC Resolution No. 9, s. 2026: A resolution ordinance backing proposed ordinance to establish, define objectives, and secure funding for the Cagayan de Oro City Special Needs Intervention Center for Children.
 
* BEC Resolution No. 07, s. 2026: A resolution commending the local government’s community-based initiatives for children, specifically the "Kids Project," which provides essential aid to community schools.
 
* BEC Resolution No. 08, s. 2026: A resolution endorsing a specialized research study on the “Educational Reintegration Experiences of Adolescent Mothers” to build frameworks for helping teen moms return to school.

* Kauban Application: An assistive digital platform engineered for deaf and hard-of-hearing learners to reduce communication barriers in academic settings.
 
* Kagay-anon Student Bridging Application: A platform designed to streamline the transition of senior high school graduates and Alternative Learning System (ALS) completers into higher education.
