AMID SPIKE IN CASES

Get vax boosters, Kagay-anons urged
Days before Cagayan de Oro City logged its second straight day of more than 20 COVID-19 cases, the City Health Office called on Kagay-anons to secure their booster shots.

‘Normally, kasagaran dili 100 percent sa nabakunahan naay (resistance) kay depende na sa pag-respond sa imong lawas. Mao na ang rason ngano mohatag ta og booster shots kay motaas imong level of antibodies (mostly it’s not 100 percent of those vaccinated develop resistance because it depends on how their bodies respond. That’s the reason why we administer booster shots),’ said CHO chief Dr. Rachel Dilla during Monday’s COVID-19 response press briefing.

CHO data showed that as of 10 pm of July 28, Cagayan de Oro City logged 22 new cases with seven recoveries and 99 active cases. The day before, the city logged 28 cases with 24 recoveries and 84 active cases. The CHO appeal came three days before it announced that it will now administer second booster shots to those aged 12 years old and older in all of the city’s available vaccine sites.

‘Sayang sad kon dili ta magpa-inject og booster shots kay nag balik spike ang COVID-19. Kay ang pag bakuna, dili lang nato giprotektahan atong kaugalingon kon dili atong pamilya og silingan (It would be a waste if we don’t get injected with our booster shots especially now when we’re experiencing a spike of COVID-19 cases. Once we get vaccinated we not only protect ourselves but our families and neighbors),’ said Dr. Ina Grace Chiu, CHO immunization program coordinator./Text and screengrab photos by SC
