5-storey disaster resilience bldg to rise in Carmen; Mayor Klarex broke ground for the project

The 1.8-hectare Disaster Resilience Complex of the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Department (CDRRMD) will soon rise as the City Government of Cagayan de Oro broke ground for the construction of the 5-storey building at Zone 8, Barangay Carmen.
 
According to CDRRMD Department Manager Nick Jabagat, the CDRRMD Disaster Coordination Center consist of the BFP and Cocpo substation on the ground floor; admin and training, planning and research, and operations and monitoring offices on the second floor; fitness room and mess room for responder workers at the third floor; disaster coordination center, joint information center, and conference room for press briefings at the fourth floor; and executive offices at the fifth floor.
 
The construction of the 5-storey building is phase 1 of the Disaster Resilience Complex, which will sit at the government-owned lot in Barangay Carmen.
 
"Walay laing lugar nga safety kaayo. Dinhi ra gyud nahimutang sa Barangay Carmen nga ibabaw sa tanan nga layo sa mga baha," City Mayor Rolando "Klarex" Uy said.
 
Mayor Klarex Uy led the ceremonial groundbreaking for the 5-storey CDRRMD Disaster Coordination Center last Friday, September 30, 2022.
 
The city mayor said they will start the construction of the building before the year ends in preparation for possible calamities as well as to provide to areas near Cagayan de Oro.
 
"Ang importante nga duna tay pangandam sa tanang mga kalamidad nga mahitabo sa atong dakbayan ug labaw sa tanan, makatabang usab kita sa ubang mga lugar nga gapangayo og tabang sa atong buhatan," Mayor Klarex Uy said.
 
Present during the groundbreaking ceremony were Office of the Civil Defense Regional Director Antonio Sugarol, Kagawad Sonny Cahayag of Barangay Carmen, Rev. Msgr. Rey Manuel Monsanto, and Focal Person on National Resilience Council Eileen San Juan. (JAS-CIO/photos by ROD CONSTANTINO-CIO)
