Malaysian investor SM Anand from the Malaysia Palace met with City Mayor Rolando "Klarex" Uy on Monday, November 28, 2022, to discuss on how they could provide assistance to Cagayan de Oro.

The Malaysian investor said their areas of expertise will focus on solving the water system and energy issues in the city.

"Whatever the government needed, we are trying to solve the issue for them," Anand said.

However, a feasibility study is needed to check on the quantity and quality of the water in the city and determine how big the investment would be.

"Yes, we can solve the issue, but we have to study where the problem is going on in the water system, and we want to know the quantity and quality of the water and how big is that investment," Anand said. Their assistance, he further said, is also part of their mission to establish a long-term close relationship between Malaysia and the Philippines.

"We will [conduct the feasibility] study, and we will come back again in Cagayan de Oro," he added. (JAS/CIO)
