HOLIDAY-CLAD RELAS, MARCHING BANDS TO USHER ‘PASKO DE ORO’

Six community bands and six motorelas dressed in holiday-themed decorations will be parading within the city at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 1, as Cagayan de Oro begins this month's Yuletide celebration with its annual Christmas festivities: "Pasko de Oro."
 
Participating in this year's ‘Marching Band Competition’ are the Oro Marching Arts Guild, Silverianz DBC, the community bands of Barangays Lumbia, Bayanga and Patag, and Pilgrim Christian College.
The parade will start at the Rodelsa circle and will end outside city hall where City Mayor Rolando "Klarex" Uy will deliver his Christmas message to the Kagay-anons.
 
At around 5 p.m., the city will begin its countdown to light up the City Hall, Gaston Park and Ysalina Bridge in its "Festival of Lights," the city's annual Christmas lighting ceremony to welcome the Yuletide season.
Simultaneously, the entries from 11 barangays participating in the "Christmas Village Around the World 2022" and the parols of the 22 establishments, private individuals and national agencies participating in this year's "Indigay sa Parol" will be lit up as well.
 
Following the ceremonial lighting is the announcement of the winners of the Marching Band Competition wherein the first-place winner will be receiving P50,000 cash prize, the second placer will get P30,000 and the third placer will receive P20,000. (JAS-CIO/CIO file photos)
