Kagay-anons can expect a more festive City Hall tonight, January 20, as the City Government of Cagayan de Oro is set to light up its Chinese lanterns at the City Hall and Gaston Park.
Prior to the lighting of the Chinese Lanterns, Kagay-anons will be entertained by several performances by the students of Kong Hua School and Oro Christian Grace School, and the Wushu Federation Philippines Cagayan de Oro Chapter.
City Mayor Rolando "Klarex" Uy, Vice Mayor Jocelyn "Bebot" Rodriguez and Misamis Oriental Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (MOFCCCI) President Rosa Go will also deliver their Chinese New Year messages to the Kagay-anons and the Filipino-Chinese community.
"With the leadership of Mayor Klarex, being his roots nga Chinese pud sya, gusto sad siya nga ang kaning Chinese culture maabot pud sa ordinaryong katawhan, sa mga pinoy, sa mga Kagay-anon," Oro-TIPC (Trade Investments Promotions Center) chief John Asuncion, the chairman of the Chinese New Year Festival Committee, said.
The program for this year's Chinese New Year Festival Lighting of the Chinese Lantern will begin at 5 p.m. at City Hall mini park. (JAS-CIO/Photos by RCC and Kim Saldivar/CIO)
