Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Rolando ‘Klarex’ Uy issued last Dec. 5 an executive order to reconstitute the Task Group on Firecrackers and Other Pyrotechnic Devices.

 

Executive Order No. 511-2024 defines the group’s membership guidelines, duties, and responsibilities to ensure public safety during the holiday season.

 

The task group is empowered to regulate the sale, use, and display of firecrackers in compliance with Republic Act 7183 or an Act regulating the sale, manufacture, distribution and use of firecrackers as well as existing regulations by the Department of Interior and Local Governments (DILG).

 

The order also identified designated stores and areas for buying firecrackers including sellers at Paseo del Rio and selected malls in Cagayan de Oro, with sales allowed only from December 20 to 31.
