Written by
Cagayan de Oro City Hall under Mayor Rolando ‘Klarex’ Uy’s administration announced on Friday the guidelines for the sale and use of fireworks and pyrotechnics to ensure public safety during the holiday season.

These measures will be enforced from Dec. 20 to 31, with designated areas and specific regulations to minimize accidents and promote responsible celebration.

Key points of the guidelines include:

• Only Chada Fireworks and Lincoln Fireworks are permitted for mall displays, provided these are located outside mall premises and enclosed with non-flammable materials.

• Any transactions conducted outside the designated selling area at Paseo de Oro will be considered illegal.

• Online transactions for the sale and purchase of pyrotechnics and firecrackers are strictly prohibited.

• Barangays are instructed to campaign against "boga" (homemade cannon-like devices) and will confiscate such items.

• Minors are prohibited from selling firecrackers and other pyrotechnic devices.

• Each barangay must designate one (1) Fireworks Display Area to ensure safety.

• Regular business permit owners are not allowed to engage in retail or wholesale sales of firecrackers and pyrotechnic devices.

City Hall officials said these measures highlight the city government’s commitment to protecting the community while allowing residents to enjoy the festive season responsibly.

Everyone is encouraged to adhere to the guidelines to ensure a safe and joyful holiday celebration.
