Updates on the barangay drug clearing program and the anti-drug abuse strategic plan topped Friday’s agenda of the City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (CADAC) which held its last meeting for 2024 at the City Council Conference Room 2 in City Hall’s Legislative Building.

The meeting led by CADAC Co-Chairman and Councilor Romeo V. Calizo focused on four major agenda items.

The council reviewed the output of the CADAC Strategic Plan and received a comprehensive report on its progress. The meeting also highlighted the barangay drug-clearing program by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA-10) regional office.

The agency said 19 out of Cagayan de Oro City’s 80 barangays were declared free of illegal drugs. The council also tackled reports on the involvement of Children in Conflict with the Law (CICL) and Children in Street Situation (CISS) in drug-related activities.

They also cited the urgency of proposed ordinances and reforms in the Balay Silangan program to enhance rehabilitation efforts of drug pushers and users./MDS/CIO/ Photos by: Reynan Baylin/CIO
