Cagayan de Oro City officials led by Mayor Rolando ‘Klarex’ Uy joined the families of nearly 300 unidentified victims of Tropical Storm ‘Sendong’ (international name Washi) in a Mass and interment ceremony at the City Memorial Park in Bolonsiri, Barangay Camaman-an on Monday, Dec. 16.

 

In his message, Mayor Klarex called on everyone present during the event to pray for the Sendong victims and called for unity in remembrance of the lives lost and impacted by the tragedy which marked its 13th year.

 

Mayor Klarex and the families of the Sendong victims were joined by members of the 20th City Council and department managers during the program hosted by City Hall through the City Local Environment and Natural Resources Office (CLENRO) headed by Engr. Armen Cuenca.

 

The City Council passed Resolution 2-2024 spearheaded by Councilor James Judith II to hold the interment program for the unidentified Sendong victims in order to honor the memory of those who perished and reiterate the city’s commitment to climate resilience. (MDS/CIO/Photos by: Kim Zaldivar/CIO)
