The term Gaudete means "Rejoice," echoing the first word of the Entrance Antiphon and reminding us to celebrate joy and hope.

 

On December 15, Gaudete Sunday—the third Sunday of Advent—a city hall employee brought this message to life in an extraordinary way.

 

April Joy C. Rica, a Barangay Coordinator under the City Community Affairs Department (CCAD), helped a woman gave birth in a taxi after it stopped on the roadside. The woman and her husband, desperate for assistance, found a lifesaver in Joy.

 

Drawing on her training and compassion, she ensured the safe delivery of the baby.

 

Joy’s simple act of kindness showcased what it means to be a true public servant—ready to serve anytime, anywhere.

 

Her actions brought immense joy to the family and pride to the Local Government Unit of Cagayan de Oro (LGU-CDO).
