The City Council Committee on Trade and Commerce chaired by Councilor George S. Goking is pushing the approval of the government’s KADIWA program that will allow Cagayan de Oro City’s local agricultural producers to connect and sell directly to the public.
During its meeting held Friday morning (Apr. 25) at the City Council session hall, the committee sought to institutionalize through enactment of an ordinance the Katuwang sa Diwa at Gawa para sa Masaganang Ani at Mataas na Kita (KADIWA) ng Pangulo in Cagayan de Oro City.
KADIWA is a strategic initiative of the Department of Agriculture aimed at strengthening the farm-to-market supply chain by directly connecting local producers to consumers. The ordinance will establish this program as a permanent part of the city’s development efforts.
Friday’s meeting was attended by representatives of the Departments of Trade and Industry (DTI), Labor and Employment (DOLE), Agriculture (DA), Interior and Local Government (DILG), Agricultural Productivity Operations Office (APOO), City Economic Enterprises and Business Development Administration (CEEBDA), and the City Budget Office (CBO).
