THE City Management Information Systems and Innovation Department (CMISID) welcomed a team sent by the National Privacy Commission (NPC) to conduct an on-site visit and data privacy compliance check at Cagayan de Oro City Hall on Tuesday (Oct 21).
The inspection was in compliance to the Data Privacy Act of 2012 aimed at safeguarding the personal data processed by city offices in order to promote responsible and secure data management practices.
With the full support of City Mayor Rolando ‘Klarex’ Uy, who welcomed the NPC team together with Chief of Staff Sheila B. Lumbatan, the commission visited various offices to conduct a comprehensive compliance assessment on each department’s data processing systems.
Following the evaluation, the NPC discussed their findings with the city’s Data Protection Officer (DPO) team, the DPO secretariat, the Research and Innovation Division of CMISID, and the Compliance Officer for Privacy to ensure proper follow-up and strengthen the city’s commitment to data privacy and protection.
