Mayor Klarex to taguanao hit and run suspect: Surrender

Written by
Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Rolando “Klarex” Uy is telling the suspect in the Taguanao hit-and-run so that his case would no longer become complicated.

“Unta ang maong hingtungdan, nailhan naman siya, mo-surrender na lang aron matagaan pod og kalinaw sa iyang kaugalingon. Sa dili madugay, makit-an ka ra man gyud. Gipadako pa nimo imong kaso, ang imong problema,” Mayor Klarex Uy said during his weekly radio program ‘Inyong Alagad’ over at Magnum Radyo.

According to Major Julius Saluta, station commander of Police Precinct 2, a case for murder is going to be filed with the City Prosecutors Office today against a certain Stephen Neri, 27 years of age and a resident of Muco, Zayas, Barangay Carmen for the death of 26-year-old John Paul Levita on Oct. 9, 2022.

Witnesses' account point to Neri as the driver of the black Hyundai Accent car that mowed on the victims early morning of October 9 at the Pelaez Bridge in Taguanao, barangay Indahag. The incident followed a melee among groups of people having drinking binges at the scenic bridge.

Aside from the 26-year-old who died, seriously injured in the incident was Rufus Levita, 22. The other victims, Jhane Valerie Canonero, 18 years of age and a resident of Bacoor, Cavite, and Prince B. Lopez, 19 suffered various injuries
Mayor Klarex Uy has ordered the Cocpo to work for the fast resolution of this case that once again highlights the need for the stricter imposition of a local ordinance prohibiting the drinking of alcoholic beverages in public places and the need for more police visibility.

In his speech marking 100 days as mayor, among the legislation he asked the City Council to pass is the ordinance creating the Oro Police Auxiliary OPA. If the ordinance is passed, City Hall and the Cocpo will deputize police auxiliaries to augment the undermanned police force. (CMO Communications Group)
