While receiving no security threats ahead of the observance of Kalag-Kalag 2022, Task Force Oro commanding officer Lieutenant Colonel Zaldy Marzan said they will remain on alert to any possible eventualities.
"Ngayong Kalag-Kalag 2022, wala tayong na-monitor na threat dito sa Cagayan de Oro but meron kaming ide-deploy sa mga piling cemeteries. Sa Bolonsiri at tsaka sa Bulua," Marzan said during a meeting with City Mayor Rolando "Klarex" Uy and the cemetery board, which comprised of some of the barangay captains and the heads and representatives of both public and private cemeteries in Cagayan de Oro.
Marzan added they will also be deploying their mobile patrol to rove around the 11 public and seven private cemeteries in Cagayan de Oro. "24 hours yan. Magsisimula kami sa October 28," Marzan said.
Last week, Mayor Klarex issued an executive order providing the guidelines for the celebration of Kalag-Kalag 2022, which comprised of:
1. All cemeteries and memorial parks management shall ensure the observance of the minimum public health standards, including the use of facemasks, physical distancing, and installation of hand washing areas;
2. Visiting hours shall be limited from 6 am to 10 pm only;
3. No alcoholic beverages are allowed inside the cemeteries and memorial parks;
4. No backpacks, knives, spear, bolo and the like, bladed weapons, and musical instruments will be allowed inside the cemeteries and parks;
5. No overnight stay shall be allowed inside the memorial parks.
In addition, Mayor Klarex asked all barangay captains in the city to monitor the gatherings of youths, particularly gangs, saying that they have to be suppressed and broken up before they commit riots and various crimes.
The city mayor also urged the parents to watch over their children to prevent them from getting involved in gangs. (JAS-CIO/Photos by Rod Constantino/CIO)
